Experiencing trauma can have a dramatic effect on our bodies and our minds. Studies have shown that there is a significant connection between trauma and the physical body that includes chronic health conditions. Common physical disorders and symptoms can include somatic complaints, sleep disturbances, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, neurological, musculoskeletal, respiratory, and dermatological disorders, urological problems, and substance use disorders.
Addressing the physical body to assist clients in processing trauma can have a deeply profound effect on the success of a massage session.
Students will understand Emotional Release and how to compassionately and effectively assist clients through their trauma journey to move past their story and any chronic pain issues.
Effective massage and bodywork modalities will be explored, as well as EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), therapist grounding disciplines, and applicable boundaries within the client/therapist relationship.
The student will be working with survivors of trauma during the hands-on segment of the class.
